Eternity’s End will take players to the First Ones realm of Zerith Mortis, where they must confront the Jailer and put an end to his cosmic schemes. The 9.2 patch for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands goes live on February 22nd.

Beyond a new zone and a plethora of new content to focus on, Eternity’s End heralds the return of class-specific Tier Sets, unlockable through the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid. Beyond the new zone, story, and challenges, Eternity’s End marks the start of the third season of Shadowlands PVP and Mythic+. Rankings for these game modes will be tallied and rewards dolled out, with the third season of both beginning the week after Patch 9.2 launches. PVP enthusiasts can also look forward to the Maldraxxus Coliseum–a new arena coming in Eternity’s End.
World of Warcraft has suffered from substantial content drought since the release of Shadowlands in 2020 due to the ongoing global pandemic, and later the ongoing sexual assault and discrimination lawsuits and allegations which plagued Activision Blizzard in 2021. Its last patch, Chains of Domination, released on June 29th of last year, 7 months after Shadowlands released–meaning there has been another 7 months without new content in the MMO.
Needless to say, players are relieved to finally have a roadmap for Patch 9.2’s release. Ever since its announcement at the end of last year, players have been scouring the Public Test Realm, datamining crumbs of story hints and speculating on others. After such a long wait, players are eager to have something new to play–and ready to move on to whatever is next for World of Warcraft.
That said, not everyone is satisfied with World of Warcraft, despite its recent announcement. Between delayed content, unpopular story decisions, and corruption within its ranks, many have become disenchanted with Activision Blizzard, and the impending patch release won’t be enough to restore their faith in the company. While no one can say for sure whether Eternity’s End will deliver the epic conclusion promised by its devs until its release in a couple of weeks, it is nonetheless refreshing to see World of Warcraft is moving. After all, the release of Eternity’s End means WoW is likely to announce its next expansion pack not long after.
