The World of Warcraft Classic demo will be fairly limited in scope, but should provide a solid reintroduction to Azeroth when it was first explorable. According to Blizzard, the demo will provide two “iconic” World of Warcraft zones for players to explore and quest through as they please. Specific details about the demo remain unclear, both because Blizzard is saving the announcement for later and because not every detail has been officially fleshed out.

Regarding availability, Blizzard confirmed that the demo’s servers should go live shortly after the BlizzCon 2018 opening ceremony ends. And rather than ending alongside BlizzCon, which is just a two-day event, the demo will remain open from November 2 all the way through November 8.

In addition to revealing the inclusion of a World of Warcraft Classic demo within the BlizzCon 2018 Virtual Pass, Blizzard also revealed in-game World of Warcraft content for pass owners. This year, Virtual Pass owners and BlizzCon attendees will receive Alliance and Horde-themed cloaks as well as faction War Banners. There will be one cloak and one banner for both the Alliance and Horde, continuing the main theme of World of Warcraft’s Battle for Azeroth expansion.

The World of Warcraft Classic demo, the cloak, and the banner are likely to make up the entirety of World of Warcraft content included with the purchase of a BlizzCon 2018 Virtual Pass. While there’s a chance that more could be added at a later date, it’s unlikely. Of course, the main value found in the Virtual Pass is in seeing all of BlizzCon via livestream while the event is ongoing. There’s certain to be several World of Warcraft-related announcements, including more information on World of Warcraft Classic. The demo and in-game content are just icing on the cake.

World of Warcraft is available now on PC.
